Well, 2020 has been a doozy.
With 2021 around the corner, many of us are looking at the new year with renewed hope and anticipation. Some of you may be considering some changes or new goals in your career.
Don’t let the uncertainty of the post-COVID economy stop you from starting your job search in 2021. It never hurts to see what’s out there, and honestly, you don’t know who the other candidates are when you apply to any role. The sooner you start looking, the better chance you have of finding that role. If you were laid off during COVID, don’t despair. January-May tends to be the best hiring time in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), and pretty much most of Canada and the United States. Remember that job hunting is a numbers game: the more positive energy you put out (cold calls, networking, online applications), the more potential opportunities you’re creating for yourself.
Yes, it may not seem like an easy time to make a change. Sometimes opportunity knocks when it’s least expected, that odd connection may actually be that vital tool to help you get in the door.
So, prepare yourself, polish up that old resume, sparkle on LinkedIn, and grab 2021 by the horns.
